Thefts at home, how to avoid them: the decalogue

1929/5000 Confabitare conducted an analysis of the cities where home thefts increased in the first half of the year. Considering that summer months are a good time for apartment mice, the Association has also produced a decalogue of advice to defend itself from unwanted surprises.

According to the analysis of Confabitare, the largest growth in Italy was recorded in Bologna (+ 32.3%), Milan (31%), Turin (828.2%) and Rome (27.3%). The phenomenon is as most prevalent in the big cities, the national average is a theft every two minutes. Here is the decalogue to defend and defend your home.

During the absence, never leave valuables, jewels, and of course cash. In the case of a large quantity, the alternative might be to rent a safe deposit box at the bank.
Close the entrance door and all the other possible accesses, especially the windows, the inner courtyards and the terraces.
Remember to always activate electronic burglar alarm systems.
Never tell outsiders the period when you leave your home unattended.
Especially never publish information through Facebook and Twitter.
Leave the keys to a trusted person and however ask some nearers to "watch" during your absence
Never leave messages recorded in the answering machine that alert you of your absence from home. The thieves could actually call the fixed number, thus detecting your absence.
If the absence is short it is advisable to leave the light on, the radio or the TV running to simulate the presence of someone in the apartment.
Do not store mail in the mailbox, but ask the goalkeeper or neighbors to retire
If you go home, find the door open, do not go in, but call 112 or 113 now.
